Herbal Medicine is the oldest and most commonly used form of medicine world wide.

Its relevance is being increasingly validated via scientific research, bringing new insights to age-old traditional herb usage.

As well as understanding the active phytochemical constituents of each herb, todays Western Herbal Practitioner recognises the importance of the synergistic equilibrium of chemical and energetic factors. These balanced components are at their most effective when used together as the plant grows in nature, rather than isolated use of certain active principles.

The preparation of medicinal herbal tinctures from the whole of the desired herb part, gives a natural remedy containing the entire balance of constituents as intended by nature.
Use in this manner ensures minimal risk of any adverse side effects, when produced and prescribed by a professionally trained and certified herbalist.

Natural Probiotics for Your Daily Diet.

Fermented foods such as Kefir and Kombucha are making a resurgance in the health food world! Along with natural gut-health promoting foods such as bone broths and fermented vegetables, they are gaining wide popularity as an every day means to obtain the healthy intestinal micro-flora or probiotics that keep, or restore our digestive systems to good health.

It is well documented that nutrition via foods and natural products are assimilated and utilised more readily by our bodies than extracted components or laboratory produced nutrients.

All health begins with a healthy GIT (Gastro Intestinal Tract). No matter how good a diet is consumed, without a healthy GIT to process, break down, absorb, distribute and utilise the nutrients, no goodness can be gained from the foods ingested. The body literaly starves for nutrition.

Many allergies and auto-immune diseases can be linked directly to "leaky gut" syndrome, where intestinal mucosa are unhealthy and allow transfer of molecules which need to be isolated and processed within the GIT, through the gut wall and into the circulatory system where the immune system sees them as "invaders" and sets up an immune response

The Traditional Method is Being Proven Best!

The "modern day" means for gaining the necessary probiotics for gut health, has been to take probiotic capsules. Often it is also recommended by health care professionals that a pre-biotic be taken. The pre-biotic bacteria set up the base health within the GIT, preparing the ground so to speak - providing an hospitable environment, enabling the probiotics within the second capsule to thrive and work effectively to promote healthy mucosa and intestinal flora.

Fermented foods naturally provide a diverse range of probiotics to the GIT, and as the food itself is the healthy medium in which the fermented probiotics have been produced, the pre-biotic is already there, in a natural, nutritious form.

Current research is now directing us back to using traditional methods of gaining nutrition and healthy probiotics through our every day foods.

Historically fermented foods have been part of every cultures diet, often as a means of providing vegetables or dairy products for use year round in in-hospitable climates, without the benefits of refrigeration.

The healthy bacterial cultures (probiotics) in fermented foods increase the foods shelf life. Even foods requiring refrigeration, such as Kefir Cheese and Kefir Butter, have a longer healthy "use by" date than their non-fermented counterparts.

Utilising fresh herbs harvested at the height of their medicinal potency, gives a vitalistic 'zing' to the resultant fresh plant tinctures.

While some herbal parts such as roots, are at their best when dried prior to use, other herbal components may also be dried for storage and used to produce tisanes, decoctions or dry plant tinctures year round.
